The babybubl. comes with a companion app to allow you to use all of the functions of the babybubl, and to explore the world of bubl. The bubl. app is free to download and use, available on both App store and Google Play.

The bubl. app gives you access to all of the functionality of the babybubl.

The bubl. app gives you access to the full potential of the babybubl.

By connecting the babybubl to the app on your phone it will work as an external controller where you'll be able to control it directly through the app. You'll also be able to see how the air around your child is. Measuring and displaying temperature and particles in real time. We're displaying microparticles, PM2.5, which are the bad ones we're trying to protect your child from.

When the babybubl is running and connected to the app, you'll clearly see a blue bubble of clean air forming around your child, pulsating like calm breaths. In the lower left corner,bil the numbers displayed show temperature, and amount of particles in your child's direct environment. In the upper right corner, you can see how the air outside looks like - this data is partly collected from external data sources in your city.

By pressing any of the numbers, you will get more information about the air quality index, or scale, showing you the meaning of the numbers.

The map function will show you a map with a color gradient, showing you the air quality in your area. However, these external measuring spots might not be fully representable of where you are. They might be kilometers away, located on a rooftop, or right next to a highway.

So if you would rather want to know how the air actually looks where you are, press the colorful dots in center, just below the inside/outside graphics to make your own measurement! The babybubl is equipped with advanced sensor technology, and it will tell you how the air quality really is where you are. You will also be able to see your walk and what a difference you've made for your child.

Of course, the app will also tell you the usual stuff like battery status, filter lifetime etc. It will even notify you when it's time to replace the filters in your babybubl, and can even show you how to do it.

Air Quality Index

The Air Quality Index is a scale to help visualize the quality of the air. The Air Quality Index is based on five “criteria pollutants”, namely:

–  Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5)

–  Ozone

–  Nitrous Oxides

–  Carbon Monoxide

–  Sulphur Dioxide.

The higher the number of the AQI, the worse the quality of air is. The “criteria pollutants” by themselves work on a scale on how harmful a particular concentration of them are, which correlates to a level on the AQI scale, as well to health recommendations. 

In our app the AQI is primarily related to the concentration of PM2.5, which is “criteria pollutant” most closely linked to long term negative health effects.

Under “Settings” you can choose which Air Quality Index you want to use. You can choose between the European (EAQI), the Chinese, and the US Air Quality Indexes. The European AQI is the strictest one, and closest to the revised recommendations and guidelines set by the World Health Organization (WHO). Since children are more sensitive, we recommend you use the EAQI. 

Data Driven behaviour change

bubl collects the air data that your babybubl device collects, and via our companion app, anonymously shares it back to us, painting a picture of the pollution in your area.

This helps you make safer decisions for you while you’re out and about – helping you make more informed decisions about air pollution around your home.
